Police: Boy holding pellet gun raises concerns at Mass. Statehouse | Metro News - WCVB Home

incident under investigation

UPDATED 2:46 PM EDT Sep 29, 2013
BOSTON —Massachusetts state police say a suspicious person seen near the Statehouse with what appeared to be a rifle turned out to be a 12-year-old boy with a pellet gun and there was never any danger.

State police said earlier Sunday that they were looking for a suspicious minivan spotted at the Statehouse loading dock, after one of the occupants was seen looking through a scope or similar device attached to what appeared to be a rifle.

Troopers said they later found the vehicle. They said the passenger with the rifle-like object was a 12-year-old boy who was holding his newly purchased Airsoft rifle, which looks like a real rifle and fires plastic pellets.

Police said they're still investigating. It's unclear if the boy or the driver of the van will face any charges.

There were no events scheduled at the Statehouse Sunday.

Yeah, that didn't scar him for life, make him fear and hate the police or encourage him to hide all weapons he owns for the rest of his life did it?
