I'm showing points in my collection that I've found a long time ago, because I haven't been looking for anything lately. I can't go off and leave my wife for more than a few hours at a time, and in my golden years, which is called that because a person is an old coot, and all your gold goes to the doctors. In this stage of my life my mind keeps telling me "You're good to go," and my body says, "Oh no your not." At the time these points were found, I was shoeing horses, and had a part time job checking cows for a fellow that had three large ranches in the area. On one of his properties the cows were in the back pasture, and I had a long ride up a road before reaching the cows. The first time I went up there I found a point in the road, so from then on, every time I went to check the cows, a little time was spent looking for arrowheads.
The second picture has the same points numbered to make it easier to tell what's what. # 1 is red obsidian with some black inclusions in it, I think #2 is a stone awl, or perhaps a nose decoration, #3 could be a drill that was mounted on a haft to spin it, and numbers 4 and five have a special story. These are the only two I found on a different property. There were ferral pigs in the area, and I went pig hunting, there was at the most an inch of snow on the ground. The dirt road on the ranch was pretty well covered, but melting off. Getting out of the truck to open a gate there was a round hole in the snow, and it the center of that hole was one of those points. Swinging the gate open I noticed another round hole in the snow, and the other black point was in it. #4 is black obsidian, and #5 I thought was obsidian, but now realize it could, and probably is basalt. The rest of the points could be most any kind of rock. The red one on the top left is interesting, but if asked what kind of rock, I'd have to say, "red rock."
