My coworker found this in the recent past and was wondering what type point it was. It was found in the lower piedmont of NC. I looked in my ID book and it looks kind of like a hardaway palmer combination. The combination was called a Taylor something. I forgot the last word to the point.

Yea I believe that's right, with the auricles and the concave base that's ground. An estimate of the age would between 10,000 BP to 3,000 BP. Really nice, thanks for sharing! 8-)

Thanks for the conformation. Would this also be considered a hardaway side notched point.

Yes. The Hardaway, Palmer, Taylor, Big Sandy, Rowan are side-notched points that's related/transitioned in the Early Archaic period. I'm not an expert at all about this. I've seen a lot to make an educated guess. I still not quite sure what the material is (quartz?) I'm not 100% sure, but in my opinion, it's the hardaway-palmer with it being relatively small also.

Man that one was hard to make from quartz I would think.

i gotta say i can hardly figure out how that stuff could be worked

it sure is nice really nice

Yea it is made of quartz. Thanks for all of the help.
