This is a pocket watch case for a watch that was made for the 1867 Exposition Universelle in Paris. The event was pretty much like a Worlds Fair. People from around the world showed up to showcase and hopefully export their goods.

But without the actual watch components inside, it's probably not worth much. And it would be very difficult to determine who manufactured it.

nicklpc- The photos help identify the relic in question, thanks for the help! Looks like the one you dug had a few more parts left and I only ended up with the back cover and the stamping inside. I did see on the bottom, below the 1867 mark, that there are very small numbers stamped into my piece as well.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been seeing several photos online of civil war spoons and it looks like mine is a match to a well known variety!

Well if that case was gold it be easy to assess the value. Even those old 20 year gold filled watch cases, you can easily come up with a price on, because they even have a scrap gold value. That dark green tarnish makes me believe this case is made of nickle silver and that's not worth much. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_silver Still it's a really neat thing to find. You always got to love a find that tells a story of a event in the past. That's always worth something to me.
