Pocket knife?

Found these two pieces and can't figure out what it is or what it was used for

It's gold plated copper (3/4 x 5). The black on one side appear to be glue.

I was thinking maybe pocket knife cover/side.

Old hand mirrors and dresser sets were usually made with an inexpensive metal then "wrapped" with a thin layer of either silver or low karat gold for oppulance and profit. Could this be a piece of that kind of thing?
Just my guess.
