Plymouth Yale Key - for a car?

Is this a key for a Plymouth automobile? It is also marked "The ----- Mfg. Co." "Yale" "D D" "C I D" on one side. I think "Made For" "Plymouth" on the other.

I am no expert but I have seem a lot of old locks and such. Yale seems to be a manufacturer of locks for houses and such.. I could be wrong but I don't think car key.

My data shows that Yale keys were used in the Kaiser-Frazer vehicles from 1946-1951, they were the Yale Y11,Y12,Y13, and Y14. For the ignition/door locks Y11 and Y13 were used. For Glove box and trunk the Y12 and Y- 14 were used. The profiles for the Y12 and Y14 were the reverse of the Y11 and Y13. Yale keys were also used for the Studebaker from 1940-1963 in the Glove box Trunk locks.

I could find no reference for them being used in the Plymouth but this will not mean that they were not used in them. The Yale keys I have listed here are used in many different types of locks. Yale did not necessarily make the automotive locks them selves but their key profiles were used. HH

Yep. Found it in my obsolete key manual. Looks like an X1199B or Y128 under Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth. Used from 1940-1948 and in 1951. The X1199G or Y138 was also used for those years. These keys were also made by Dominion Lock, Taylor, Curtis and Ilco.
