Seems like a simple enough idea. I can't imagine a trip out to nowhere, no electricity, and a detector go dead.
A simple thing, just plug the charger into the lighter of your car or truck.

I just checked White's site, nothing like it listed that I saw. I would think it could be added to their line of accessories and be rather inexpensive. probably sell quite a few too.

How about it...anyone else like to have one?

How much nicer to have a couple rechargables in my stockpile than carrying throw-aways everywhere I go.

I even had a $4000. 00 telescope that had an adapter for a car or truck. Made it real nice on those camping trips that lasted for several days.

I had a White's mobile charger for my Eagle Spectrum. I' surprised they don't make them for the XLT/DFX & all the others that take the same battery pack.

It would probably fall in the rapid charger category so you'd have to be careful of keeping them on charge too long.

It would probably be easy to make one from a cell phone mobile charger. Just put the proper plug on the end being careful to get the right polarity.

I've go a bunch of old ones & found some while metal detecting so maybe someday I'll get ambitious & cobble one together.

I have plenty of spare packs plus loose AA batteries so I've never had a need for one.

I make sure my pack is fully charged. I carry a spare pack that takes the AA batteries ( use high quality ones) and I have a pack of spare batteries with a radio shack Battery checker. But it would be nice to plug in your battery pack while driving to or from a site.

I have a ac converter in my truck. just plug it in to the lighter and I can plug in my charger

Didn't think of that sniffer...i got one too, used it for my laptop. Thanks for the reminder.

Good idea.

This is what I do and it works great. I bought the small converter for 20 bucks from Walgreen's. I plug it in then the Whites charger and it is charged to 100% in no time. You can get bigger units but I see no reason for it unless you trying to run a hair drier. :headbang:

the one I bought cost me a buck at a garage sale. this thing has to be about 20 years old and works great, it's about the size of a box of kitchen matches
