Found this thing in SE Wisconsin buried in a hill. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is is manmade or a fluke of weathering? Is a little bigger than a closed fist and fairly heavy-a few pounds maybe? There seems like there is inscriptions all over it and has 3 holes (one in each layer) also what appears to be casting marks or the like. Is this worth anything besides as a paper weight?

Petrified "BigMacius", Pleistocene era. I Googled the info. Google tells me all that I ever need to know.

Montana Jim posted this link in another post. I bet the people at that site would find your rock interesting. It does look like white part was already there when brown rock was formed around it. I do not know what you have but it is interesting.

As far as I can tell its rock, but the very top and the layers in between thin layers of "rock" stacked on each other. The white rock is heavy more than I think sandstone would weigh.
