This was found at a 1700s property which means there could be coins/artifacts from 1700s to modern times. This does look very old and I believe it is a copper coin/token of some type from 1700’s to 1800’s. I have no idea what it is.

Looks like there’s a W and possibly WU on one side. The other side is wiped, no detail.

Thanks everyone. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1618966065.455388.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1618966104.156540.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1618966143.826368.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1618966163.075206.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1618966205.995291.webp

It looks like it's made from iron? I'm leaning towards it's a button instead of a coin. In between the 2 thin red lines is where the suspected shank was.

Since you have no idea what type of coin it is. I would lightly scratch it with a toothpick to see if you can get more details. If that doesn't work I might even try a quick Vinegar/salt bath 5-10min or less to reveal details. Any value is probably lost in the current condition -unless it is some super rare coin but how would you know?

I was leaning toward a button myself but looks too smooth...... not iron. I'll get better pics

Keep us posted because my guess is a trade token of some sort. I looks like a clear W is visible but who knows?

will do, just want to clean off the "blank side" see if anything comes through.

I see a W and a U so maybe a button from a western union uniform from when they delivered messages. The font doesn't look the same from the buttons I saw though.

King William the second?
Or it is an E for Edward

CDC25C8F-4976-4D6A-9E8E-EAF4DD454FD6.webpI have updated pictures of better cleaning it looks like one side has WL In a rectangle frame. The other side looks blank I’m starting to believe it is a button but I still can’t really find evidence of a shank. Very stubborn tarnish on this.
