a pic of the other side would be helpful, but so far it looks like a natural rock

Looks like a flinty-----chert type material. if it was worked on by people the other side would have some flaking on it.

Although tan, it can be cut by a lapidary and make a belt buckle or such. That stuff is tough.

Things like these if found at an actual archaeological dig site are classed as genuine stone artifacts. Humans in North America earlier than thought - Technology & Science - CBC News It seem if they are found in a random location then then it becomes impossible to say for sure what it is. Seems then opinions can go both ways. Some will say it's a true artifacts and equally others will say it's a notafact. Post it in the North American Indian Artifacts forum as it's always interesting to see what they have for opinions over these type of finds.
