looks like a chunk of quartz.

Yep. Chunk of milky quartz.

Yes it a piece of quartz but it looks like a broken artifact to me. Maybe a piece of a base of an arrowhead or knife. Go back and see if you can find any whole ones.

Hmm ... There are a lot of these in the side of a small cliff..
