I found this quite a while ago. I have since found a bit more lying around in the same geographic area but miles apart. It's driving me insane. I have some ideas but I don't want to get too excited over nothing. I cooked it in a cast iron skillet with a propane torch and it didn't really do much but make it soft before it hardened, and it didn't liquefy at all. The shiny part in one of the pictures is from me poking at it with a tool while it was hot. Any help would be appreciated.

It could be melted aluminum. Take it to a place to get tested just to be safe if you want a For sure answer.

Welcome to TNET!

I agree also that what you have there is pieces of melted aluminum.

1st - Noticed this is your very first post - so, welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania (USA).

2nd - You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Oregon for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

3rd - I have to agree with the rest - it sure does look like melted aluminum.
