This is a coin button of average size but I have never seen a back mark like this. The eye is soldered on. I can not figure out what the back mark says.

Your 1810-1830s British-made 1-piece brass flatbutton's backmark says "BEST STRONG" in Old-English Script lettering. (That lettering is how we know your button is British-made.) The smaller typical lettering is not readable in the photo, but it probably says "Gilt".
