I have several small boxes full of trinkets and keepsakes handed down to me from my Great-aunt who was the saver and keeper in the family in the past. Now I guess it's me. ;D This is one of those "Crying shame" items, because it's basicly been destroyed. But I would like to find out what it is, or was. My button book says that sometimes they would make buttons out of large cents, I guess thats what this is. My husband and I were pouring through all of his coin books yesterday and online trying to find it but could not. I'm thinking maybe it was a token and not a coin. Any help identifying this is appreciated. Thanks in advance and HH.

Hey, Tempe—

It's a love token pin/brooch. Nice work, too!

I believe that the coin may be a 2-1/2¢ piece from the Netherlands Antilles. Here's one from 1906:

Thanks PBK! Your amazing. Thats it for sure. I'm relieved it didn't turn out to be a valuable colonial copper or something like that. Now I can also date it pretty close. Thanks a bunch. HH, Tempe
