Last year found two buttons a bit unusual for my place ???.
The first –bigger one has an inscription on the reverse side EXTRA FEIN and seems to me belongs to German Imperial Navy, but what period? Was found on the place of burnt in the early 1920th Japanese whorehouse (South of Sakhalin island –Russia today, before 1945 was a Japanese territory).
The second-smaller-with words FORTES, FORTUNA,AJUVAT around an eagle with Polish ‘features’.
Sorry-I’m disturbing you from so remote a location, but I couldn’t receive any answers from my countrymen’ colleagues-please if you could help?

Sorry, no help on the buttons, but Welcome,

Fossis....................

Button #1: Translation: "fortes fortuna adjuvat" = "fortune favors the brave" - I think the Prushian eagle?

Button #2: Has a classic crown/anchor scheme... but the crown is significantly different than anything I can find...

I'm sorry I'm not any help with either of these...

What a misterious stuff ???-how easier was it to deal with those usual japanese and russian/soviet buttons I used to find with my Fisher :-\.
Anyway -thanks for the translation of the Latin words-I couldn't understand the last word- now I know all of'em.

Hi, I can,t help with the buttons but i believe the Russia Imperal navy and the Japanese Imperal navy fought some sea battles in the area you found those buttons.I think the battle took place sometime between 1903-1911.Japanese won.try get some info uniforms of these 2 navies from that era and i think you may find what your looking for.

Yeah-you are right there were sea battles in my region-in 1904-1905 during Russo-Japanese War (Peace Treaty was signed in Portsmouth ;)). Russia , as well as it's Fleet were defeated and former Russian territories became japanese. But to be trustfull-I never found a single Russian or Japanese Navy button, only Infantry, Post etc./as well as a lot of other intresting finds/.

The collegues from Polish forum helped me :D to identify one of the buttons- the bigger one-it's German Imperial Navy, WW1 period; the second is still unknown.
