After my first real weekend of MD'ing, I have recovered two identical items on the same piece of property that I can't identify. It appears that these are brass. Anyone have any ideas?

Top left item in this picture. There are no threads anywhere on the item. My guess is that something was inserted into the bottom of this piece, and perhaps the round hole in the long flat part was used to hang the item? Although I do not know exactly what existed on this particular piece of property in the past, the area's history involves a small community centered around a pine mill around 1910 and this property did have an orange grove on it until about 25 years ago. Any ID assistance would be greatly appreciated- the fact that I have found two of these has me curious.

Wow- that was fast! Thanks, guys!

So, does anyone have any idea what time period these would have been common in? Hopefully the fact that I've found two of them on this property means that something significant was going on here. Best of all, this property is my stepfather's home so I have carte blanche to search anytime I want. Maybe this was some sort of encampment? I'm not aware of any military presence in this area, but as I said it was a pine mill town. Wonder what this find is trying to tell me?

Thanks again for the ID!

I think they still make those tensioners. The date probably is tied to the history of the place you found it. Monty

Really?!?!? I started this post to ID the tent rope tensioner, but was wondering about the other items. That piece you mentioned is indeed threaded internally, but I wasn't sure what it was. Are you fairly certain about that? Not doubting you, but just curious as to how solid that ID is.

Thanks for your input!

Very cool! I am so excited about these finds and the fact that I can hunt this land to my heart's content. Can't wait to get back out there and keep up the hunt. I thought I would have found a few more coins than I have so far, but time will tell.

By the way,BigCypressHunter, am I correct in my assumption that we both are hunters? I know about Big Cypress WMA and figured you must be afflicted with the outdoor sickness like me. I do a lot of deer hunting in Gadsden County northwest of Tallahassee, and hope to drag the MD up there in the offseason.
