I keep getting mixed reviews & opinions on the following topic regarding the older CZ-20's...

Some people claim the older 20's are MUCH better than the new 21's. Others claim there's little to no noticeable difference in performance. So, what gives? I know that the new 21's are pretty much the same inner workings/mechanics of the older units, so, why would the older ones be better...or the newer ones for that matter??

P.S. - Do ya'll think a CZ-20 or CZ-21 can keep up on a saltwater beach with an Excal?

I've used both the 20 and 21 and the Excal at saltwater beaches. The 20 & 21 operate the same, but I believe the older 20 is made with better materials because when First Texas bought Fisher the ventors had to bid for the parts and the lowest bidder won. Hence, cheaper parts.

Between the Fisher and Excal, the Excal might have a slight edge because its iron mask discriminates without masking because of nearby iron. It can sound off on a gold ring with a large nail thru the ring. It also is slightly deeper even when the Fisher is operated in Autotune which is All Metal.
If you run out of battery power, the Fisher can have fresh batteries inserted right there.
Fisher has a Overload tone for shallow or large targets. And it also has audio boost for weak signals.
Fisher's seem to not have the quality problems the newer Excal II's seem to have and turn around time is faster for repair right now.

But they are very close.........
