Please help me identify this item, CW? Date?

I know nothing about items from the civil war and I am not located in a probable area for those kind of finds either but found this tonight and it was doubled in half. I bent it back gently, hopefully you can see enough to id it. It has a rim edge around it so I am not sure if it snapped off of something. It has a slight gold color on the inside. Thanks if you can help and date that would be great!

It is US Military but not Civil War. It is the great seal and appears to be a button face. I don't recall when this was put to use in the military but, based on similar finds in the past, this is likely from somewhere between WWII - 1970's (the newer ones tend to retain some shine which is why I stopped at the 70's)
