Thanks for looking. I found this button earlier this week at one of my local school yards. It was about 6 inches deep. I wasn't able to get a match on google and thought maybe someone on here could help

It would be cool to post some pics of front and back so we can compare. I am particularly interested to see if your older buttons have the same small circular mold marks that are so common on modern cast items.mrs.oroblanco said:I'm going to say that "20th century" is probably on the mark. I'm going to add "earlier" to it, because I have about 25 or so, of them - they were in my grandmother's "button can" (along with hundreds and hundreds of other buttons).

In case there is a misunderstanding, we are only interested in this particular eagle button that you have that matches the OPs button. No need to take pics of the entire "collection." You say you have 25 or so that match. Pic out the one button that matches the best and take a pic and we will determine if a closer pic is needed.mrs.oroblanco said:I can do that - they are all old, old buttons - though, honestly - I still steal one or two every once in awhile when we lose a button off a shirt.
I'll see if I can get some pics of the "collection".

PS: There is an entire coffee can full, so - I will take some pics, and if there are any that you are interested in seeing closer, I can pick them out. (my grandmother had them in an old tin cookie tin, until the bottom finally rusted out, and I put them in a coffee can)
Yes that was what I discovered in my research and another thought, the OPs button may be metal plated plastic, such as you will see in automobile radio knobs., dash, A/C controls etc. But it looks like brass or brass color plated.. The same marks appear on pot metal and lead items as well.thumper said:bigcypresshunter not sure that metal injecting molding is the same as plastic, but if they were plastic the marks would be made by the ejector pins in the mold...
I spend most of my time out swinging my detector and don't do too much forum posting.bigcypresshunter said:Welcome to TN newjak. It would be of a big help if you check back to answer questions. There are some differing opinions here and we are waiting on confirmation from Beth. In the mean time maybe you could tell us if the button is brass, plated pot metal or plated plastic. Thanks.
