I found this in southeast missouri and i was wondering if it was or even could be a meteorite? Please help. IMG_20190621_234306.webpIMG_20190621_234249.webp1561182477053873202746668118777.webp

Looks like a meteowrong to me but I'm no expert.
Will it stick to a magnet?

Yes took it to a jewelry store and it stuck to their big magnet

I'm interested in them as well but not very knowledgeable about them.

It looks too symmetrical to be a meteorite. And I've never seen one that has a "linear" look to it. Also seems too flat and round at the one end which makes me think it was man made. (Flat from pounding on the one end with a hammer?)

It looks like a piece of petrified wood to me, and yes, a magnet will stick to petrified wood with a large iron content.

Welcome looking I'm with creskol!

The first leap in iron technology was when the folks in the middle east discovered how to fuse meteorites together into
tools or other objects. The merchants who ran the camel caravans often traveled at night and often observed meteorites
fall to earth. As the technology grew so did the value of meteorites. The fusion process gradually evolved into what we call
the Damascus process which involved folding small pieces of steel together
into larger shapes.

Best wishes!

I think Creskol is correct. It is PROBABLY iron limonite which set into a petrified log. It is a very awesome find, whatever it is. And yes, it would be magnetic as such.

I see no visible characteristics of a meteorite.

Time for more coffee.

How big is it? Could you put it next to something familiar (for size comparison) and take another photo? Or maybe post the dimensions? Thanks!

That's what I would have gone with.
