Greetings from Coastal Georgia -

I recently moved to Coastal Georgia and decided to get out the XP DEUS which got minimal use when I lived in snow country. I purchased and read the XP DEUS Handbook by Sabisch as well as watched countless YouTube videos in order to learn more. At this point I know just enough to be dangerous and am probably the least experienced on TreasureNet.

The property I purchased was part of a former plantation and fortunately is not littered with junk which makes learning the DEUS a little easier. That being said, I’v not found much of interest other than the attached button which was found 12” deep in sandy soil.

I know my meager find pales in comparison to some of the fascinating treasure many of you have unearthed, but I would greatly appreciate any information about this button such as where it may have been made and in what time period. As you can see, the front has a texture and the back has what I believe is an eagle and *Treble Plated* in raised lettering.

Thanking you in advance for your valued assistance.

Nice button. You'll love the Deus. It separates in iron like nobody's business. The button is a civilian pattern used after the War of 1812 to about the 1840's. The 3 piece button like most Civil War military types was invented about 1835.

Thank you smokeythecat!

Any idea of where it was manufactured?

The property was once a plantation which had quite a few slaves as per the historical tax records. I highly doubt a silver plated button would have fallen off of a slaves clothing so I am envisioning it belonged to the overseer or possibly the owner.

I possess things that are considerably older and much more valuable than this simple button, but I cherish it more because I found it versus purchasing it.

With the "treble plated" backmark, it was probably made in England. Hint for the Deus: I use Deus Fast program, tracking ground balance and a high khz. Do not tweak settings. At least not at first, I have had my machine now long enough the warranty has expired and I STILL DO NOT tweak the settings. I find my share with it too.
