please help ID this silver coin

my buddies uncle gave this to him, he said he found it while metal detecting in a wooded are along a river. Any info you can give me on it is appreciated, and and if you knew a value that would be nice as well, thanks

its a spanish silver 1756 mexican mint made 2 reale ---see the letter "R" with the number 2 that means "reale" 2 ---- btw (the tiny "o" over the "M" is the mint mark of mexico city mint ) the 'I R" on the dated side is the asseyers letters --- sweet---- now if you can find out exactly where it was found at andcheck the area very closely as there many be more of them there who knows?--- if your freind's uncles find was an "eyeball" find along the riverbank there could be lots more of the nearby just waiting for you and your detector to visit em --- LOL --- Ivan

ask nicely if you can hunt the spot "with" him --heck the guy gave the coin to you so he must like you somewhat at least -- who knows tell him to "respect" his detecting skills skills and want to learn from him -- (its true you do want to learn from him -- since he is a "treasure finder" -- learn from those who actially find treasure. how its done )--- Ivan

yeson the sheild side the "R" means reale on the one side of the "sheild" and the number 2 on the other side of it means " reale -2" - the "I R" looking mark along the rim is the asseyers letters (on the pillar or "date" side) of your coin big C

I dont know what the marks mean. It might be "Jr". There is also is a mark that resembles a dollar sign "$".

Yes I know. Its the other side that has different markings that I speak of.
