I'm wanting to add a DEUS to the collection, my current machine is an Xterra 705 and I have the most Hrs on it, I've also used MXT, tesoro, I'm adding this incase someone had an Xterra 705 and also got a DEUS.
My first question is what "package" or detector do I Need? I need headphones so I'm not being rude to others and like a display. It seems there's many headphone options and software versions? I hunt trashy parks in a large city so I'm thinking 9" coil unless you guys say get the 11". I'd appreciate any input, links etc. I'm cramming YouTube but haven't found much beyond guys in the UK and guys trying to hit dimes at 10" with no explanations.
I'm a gold jewelry hunter and use the Xterra 705 with 18kh coil, I can accurately ID gold rings to about 6" then they start to not be repeatable. I would like extra depth and trash seperation.

I have had my deus maybe a month now so still learning. Bought Andys book which helped a lot . Other than that just been out playing with it . To me it's like having a bunch of different detectors in one. One of my main reasons for getting it was being able to update it for free so far and not having to buy a different detector when something new comes along. I haven't dug any deep coins with it but have dug some deep trash so I'm sure if I pass my coil over one it will hit it.
I got the back phones and 11 inch coil and just got the 9 inch today.
I have an explorer that I've used for years and I never really got the hang of it like a lot of folks have . The deus just seems to click with me better.
With the deus I can kind of start to tell the difference in trash from coins just by the way it sounds . My two cents from just using it for a little less than a month. Still a lot to learn.

If your hitting trashy areas then yes, the 9" coil from what I have read and heard from others. As far as headphones go, with the new prices it is hard to beat the WS5 option I would say. When I bought the Deus I got the WS4 option then added my Gray Ghost headset to the machine. Hope this helps a bit. Plus I guess you have found out from your research the Deus to be a tonal machine and do not rely totally on the TID values on the screen. Once I hear a great tone I glance at the TID value to only confirm roughly what I am hearing.

I agree that the Deus is mostly a tones machine. One thing to consider is getting a larger coil for the 705.

I could find wheat pennies with my Deus in the 8-9 inch range, with the 9" coil. Perhaps a little deeper, but it wasn't a repeatable signal. I had found silver dimes in the 8" depth with no problems.

One thing to consider is the WS4 set-up and get an adapter and run your favorite headphones with the headphone module. You can either get a set of NDTs or use an 1/4" to 1/8" adapter plug.

If you can try a Deus out first I would recommend it. I love about everything about the machine except for the way the tones react and I wished they had a more practical way of protecting the remote and still be able to mount it. A 1/8 to 1/4" adapter plug in a short cable would be nice also.

I'm totally confused, what's the "back" headphones? Ws4 vs WS5? I haven't found any info on what anything is except "Deus is a wireless machine" headphones and display are options. That's how uneducated I am on this machine. Is there an advertisement that says
Adding the WS5 headphones will allow diving, rain, louder sounds etc. thank you guys for helping.

The WS4 backphones are behind the neck headphones. The WS5 are what are considered full size on the headphones. Gray Ghost makes some waterproof headphones that work with the control module off the backphones.the WS4 and Ws5 are nor waterproof. There is also a wired configuration called FX02 headphones.

So your options starting at the cheapest:
1) starter bundle - wireless WS 4 backphones, no remote display, 9 or 11 coil
2) wired FX02 backphones remote display 9 or 11 coil.
3) WS4 wireless backphones, remote display, 9 or 11 coil
4) WS5 wireless headphones, remote display, 9 or 11 coil

Hope that helps, feel free to call me with any questions. I've used the Xterra 705, ETrac, AT Pro, F75, and CTX3030 extensively the last several years.

Thank you very much! that's exactly what I needed. I also went to the DEUS website and saw pics etc of everything.

The reason I chose the WS4 setup is that during very hot humid months the WS4 seem more practical and way to go. I then added a full headset wireless Gray Ghost for when you need to keep those ears warm in colder months.

Just seemed to be the best route for me.

I suggest all people go this route. I love the WS-4 setup.
