Play Money?

Does anyone know if this is play money or not? Im posting this for a friend. Its smaller than a dime. Has "Japan" and "One Penny" on one side with oriental writing. On the other it has "Save them One Penny" with a picture I belive to be an aardvark.

I can't decide if the design in the center of the coin is an elephant, aardvark, or a pig sitting on it's butt....

Yeah, the first two are play money coins from the 50's 60's. I don't know about the 3rd one.
