Play Money or Token?????

This item is quite worn and very thin ... it is also very worn so very little of the writing/designs can be seen. My first thought was play money but could possibly be some kind of token I guess ... found at an old farm house yard now tilled as a field ... thanks for looking and your thoughts are appreciated.

Play money, very thin and I also recognize the design in the first photo, I think that one had a penguin on it or some kind of sonic the hedgehog looking critter.
