I was invited to search a property in SC's low country that was the site of a cotton plantation destroyed in the CW. The new owner was able to provide an old plot plan showing where the plantation house was as well as the slave quarters. Just moments into my search I hit a small English trade button and a "what is it". The unknown object still gunked up with dirt is about 3inches long, 1/2" wide, hollow and tapered at one end. Never saw anything like it.
The search also turned into a "hoe down" with the recovery of 4 field hoes that would have been utilized by slaves.
I zeroed in on the area of the slave quarters and will continue the search for other relics as the weather cools.
