I'm not expecting too much out of this one but I was curious about it and since I found it in an area that had some older finds I thought I would see what some of the members here had to say about it.

It is about 2 1/8" x 1 5/8". Any ideas as to age and use?

Thanks! ;D

Looks like a fairly modern chrome plated belt buckle.

:D Thanks Creskol. Could very well be. It would have to have been lost by a hunter or something I guess. The site hasn't been occupied since the late 19th century.

That is pretty much what I expected :icon_thumleft: Just posted b/c so many of those harness buckles seem to have the bar offset and this one doesn't and because I dug it deep and the site is old - but I know that doesn't mean much.

Since my camera is still out of commission, here is a scan of an older belt that belonged to my father.
The utility-style buckle looks similar to yours.

Do you think it would be worth restoring?
