Plain button, but my first!

So, I just stepped into this metal detecting world, and my first real day out I found a button. I am sure someone is going to to tell me that it's lame, and I should go re-bury it for distant future MDs to find and appreciate.

So what did I find? It sure looked good next to the pile of pop-tops and nails I found. I nearly pooped my pants when I saw it in the hole. I was fully prepared to practice and dig up nothing but nails all day, but when I found this I was blown away.

Never seen one exactly like it, I believe it's old, keep it, hopefully someone else knows what it is.

You should join out group southeast relic hunters on Facebook and post that button. Someone on there should know what it is.
