So the wife and I want to get away for the weekend and we were thinking about the area between Fort Pierce and Sebastian inlet. Since I've never been up there we wanted to see if we could get some suggestions on what specific part of this are would be nice to stay, and since I dusted off my old Tesoro, with some good MD target areas for the 1715 fleet as well.

We're looking for a quiet area, not just for the detecting but also to get away from the bustle of Miami. I know the area I am asking about is somewhat large, but any general suggestions will help in narrowing down were to look for a BB to stay. Thanks in advance!

There may be some confusion here. The motel might be Pinewood, not Pennwood. Anyway its on the left side of Route 1 north of the Wabasso Beach Rd about a half mile. I haven't been there since summer before last so I don't know if the ownership is still the same. Here's a map...(Red Circle)
Good Luck!

The Disney resort is VERY convenient right on the beach. Parking is tough to find in that area.

Got it, you meant the Disney's Vero Beach Resort....right on the beach indeed. I'm going to look into it!

Who else here detected in these areas?

They call it Vero, but it's really way north at the bridge to Wabasso. A mile from Corrigans/turtle trail, about 5 miles to Sebastian Inlet/cabin wreck/Ambersand. Right in front of..is the the Whitby wreck? In any case within walking distance of good hunting. Got kids? It IS a Disney resort. Not cheap, but perfect location.

It is the Pennwood Motel. And a little bit of trivia here......it was built by Kip Wagner, the founder of the Real Eight Co., sometime in the 1950's I think.

Thanks mad4wrecks,
I thought it was Pennwood, but locations on it conflicted on the internet. Also didn't know the history!

My daughters and I stayed at Captain Hirams. Nice quiet place, nice tiki bar and restaurant on the water.
