Places to find silver

Garrett has a book called "Successful Coin Hunting" that gives you ideas on where to look and how to do research. Look for places that people in the past have gathered in your area. Check along the sidewalk and roads.

Hey:

As a former Long Islander I have some good advice for you. Screw the silver..Go for the copper. Long Island has a long history full of commerce and trading. You should be able to find colonial coppers and large cents if you do your research. I know people that find Reales and other old silver as well, mostly on the eastern part of Suffolk.

I only wish I was into detecting while I lived there. A lot of good places and not to many hunters.

Now I am in a place with a lot of history, but a ton of competition.

PM me if you would like some ideas on where to hunt.

hi deadringer. Silver coins a basically pre-1965 so how about asking anyone in your local area that is over45 years where they might have lost coins. Where they hung out, etc.
