It looks sorta like the pin that holds the arm of an oil lamp sconce to the wall bracket.
Beautiful patina on it whatever it is.

Thanks creskol. It could very well be a pin of sorts :icon_thumright: Just not sure initials would be engraved in a lamp finial :dontknow:

Could it be a bottle stopper?

Hi Ken,
Honestly, I don't think it is a pipe tamper. Unles the end was cut off and polished. I'll keep searching for a match, but in the meantime, here's a site you can look at.

I'm sure yours is brass. Pin is totally round not flat on the back, right?

Hi Mike,

Thanks the cool pipe tamper site :icon_thumright: The pin portion is round and pointed. No significant wear marks or broken/missing parts on the piece.

With a pretty well defined shoulder, it almost has to be a pin of some sort. :icon_scratch:

Looks like Brass, not a Pipe Tamper but unsure other than a broken key (but doesn't make sense with initials on it) :icon_scratch:

Thanks crusader :icon_thumright: I can see initals being used on a key and maybe it's a trigger point key rather than a key that turns. This key would have to be in place in order for other key to work :dontknow:
