Pioneer EX

Well, all the Garrett Aces I saw were way out of my budget. I have noticed that in the nearby area I will most likely be the only MDer. I will be getting my detector in a few days. Hopefully, it doesnt take me too long to get it set up. I have within walking distance of my house a few abandoned houses, a large park, and a small fairgrounds and rodeo arena.

Hopefully I can pick up enough clad to pay for the thing in no time.

My next question is this: What are the ethics involved in returning found jewelry?

Hey, nobody laugh, but at its price, I accidently discovered that it does a pretty good
job on shallow clad.

I have detected a grass parking lot to an athletic field probably 20 times over, along with
many others that have stopped by on road trips over like 10 years, so pickins are slim.

My younger brother got interested in the hobby, and bought that EX at Walmart, just to
play around with and see if he enjoyed digging for treasures :) So, the nice older bro
that I am took him out to show him the ropes, so we went to this easy location - planning
to do some coin garden tests, and show him how the discrimination etc worked.

He found a couple targets, but didnt have the swing coordination yet, and pinpointing with X
pattern was laughable watching... so I said here watch..... I found 8 quarters back to back
to back in 10 feet ???? Quarters ! lol. All at about 3 inches.

The standard coil with that, is like a sniper coil. Its small, and Ill be darned if trash and pulltabs
werent masking ALOT of targets in that lot. That little EX snuck right past some of the trash
no prob :)

I enjoyed that experience, and it taught me a lesson too :) So in ending, it does a fine job
for the price... just dont expect major depth. It doesnt get much simpler for a beginner. lol.

Have fun !

He just had never swung a detector before, and was a little uncoordinated.
Its best to keep a steady speed and keep the coil flat to the ground over
the entire arc. No tilting it up on the ends of the swings. And for pinpointing,
he just needed practice X'ing over the target to determine where it was.

I just wanted to show him how to practice, and found all those. Thats all :)
