Pinpointers!!!!!???????

Depends on the Brand

Thomas,
If it's a cheaper brand, it may sound off to the ground itself if you touch it to the dirt. Then again, there might be a larger iron object or something in the hole that's making it go crazy. My pinpointer (Vibraprobe 570) gives off a vibrate only when it's close to the actual target (i.e. coin, bullet casing, key, etc.) by a couple inches or closer. What kind of pinpointer do you have?

Jeff, can we have a pinpointer section for this kinda stuff?

I bought it used and he said it was a Fisher but I think it is actually a Bounty Hunter. Could it also be it needs a new battery? I just used it with the battery it came with. It is not a very good one but i got it cheap and just wanted to try one out before spending a lot of money on a good one.

Thomas, a good pinpointer will be worth every buck you pay for it. I've used the Bulleyes two and the Vibraprobe and love both of them.
It wouldn't hurt to try changing the battery and give the one you bought a chance. If it keeps faulting it may need repairs.

I use the Detecterpro Pocket uniprobe. It will detect 4-6 inches deep, I can recover a target in half the time and with the EZ-DIG-R system, little to almost no visible sign I was ever there when I am done......

Bought a used White's bullseye several years ago. It was extremely weak, but improved considerably with a new battery. Any of the pinpointers I've had a chance to play with will pickup small items to 3/4 inch or so and more on larger objects, They don't normally have to "touch" the target. They do speed up the recovery of smaller objects and coins that have taken on the color of the soil, a bunch.

I've got a Fisher F-Point that is the same as the Bounty Hunter. It will hit a quarter at 3/4" to 1" and maybe 3/8" to 3/4" on nickels and dimes. The adjustment dial is critical ti setting it just shy of beeping prior to setting it in the hole.

I kind of like it.

My Sun Ray FX-1 probe will hit a quarter to 4" and I have to pull the pinpoint trigger while in the hole to narrow things down.

You have to find a happy medium.

:) my whites bulls eye 2 has an a just botton on it. hold the power button turn it till it buzzes then back off a touch put presure on the tip beause some time presure will set it off so you mite have to back it a smiggen more some time i leave my diging tool to close to the hole and it sets it off on mine. the switch to make it beep or buzz or vibrate is in the battery holder. there the cats meeoow

My old Whites bulleye pinpointer would sound off if you would just touch the dirt in the hole no were near the coin i got rid of it...... i have that Viba-Probe 570 love it..................Jim==

I've got one of the Auto Max V-4's that I got from Kellco for shipping charges only. I've only used it once and think the battery is a little weak. I'm not real impressed with it. Does anyone have one and what are your thoughts on it. I'm going to get a fresh battery for it and give it another try. You usually get what you pay for, and if it's a piece of junk, I will spend the money to get a better pinpointer.

Thanks, John K

I sold the Detectorpro pocket uniprobe and used the money to buy a used Detectorpro uniprobe with the built in headphones. I love having the built in headphones now. True the uniprobe is more expensive, BUT it is worth ever single penny. Recovering the target is so much quicker and easier then any other probe I have used.

i have one. its too big and kinda flimsey. i had to reinforce the probe with epoxy to keep it from breaking away from the body. it works ok but the quality is crappy. for what kellyco charges for these you would think they would be better.

I have 2 of the V4's and they work perfectly if I physically touch the target with it.
