Minelab Equinox 800

All Treasure Hunting
I'm detecting here at the beach.

1. I have gotten signals with my Equinox 800 while in pinpointer mode, but when I go over the same spot in the regular detection mode, I don't get a signal. What does this mean?
2. When I'm in regular detection mode, sometimes I get a signal (audio tone) but a target ID doesn't display. Instead two dashes display where the target ID number would display. What does this mean?
3. Since pinpointer mode is more sensitive than the ordinary detection mode, who don't people just use the pinpointer mode all the time?

I think from what your saying the pp mode is all metal. When you go over it with it in the detecting mode it is descriminated out . In the pinpointy mode is all metal
