Detector(s) used
Fisher F75 - Garret Pro Pointer
I have been using the F75 for a while now, and I'm a little tired of the bomb crater holes i have been digging at times...especially when the target its deep, and I just leave it on the side of the dig...

I have seen people use the FX 1, but could someone explain me the advantage of having the pinpointer attached to the Metaldetector?

How about the garret pro-pointer?

Thanks for the input

Cheers

I am guessing you have the 11in DD coil .
If that is the case there is a dot on the top center of the coil.
Use that as your center when pinpointing then turn 90 degrees
and repeat. This should shrink down the size of holes.
The hard wired probe gets a little more depth and you wont
lose it but if hunting in the woods wires can get caught in brush.
I have the Garrett and its rugged and weather resistant.

Gman had a great suggestions. Go with the Garrett pro pointer. Its very sturdy and gets great depth. You can also use it with different machines. The sunray locks you in to one machine.
HH!

Good advice here, use the dot on top of the coil....works on mine too! Also, I love the Garrett pro pointer. I used the Sunray on my DFX for years and I like NOT having the pinpointer attached to the detector now and the Garrett is built like a tank.

Thanks all for the input.

i have been using the pinpointing on the F75, but when I miss the target, leaving it on the side of the whole...its a little frustrating... :laughing7:

I have been looking hard on the Garret and the Pistolpro... haven't made up my mind yet.

Thanks again!!

I carry both and can make some good deals!
Thanks!

Nutriasub, I use both pinpointers that you are looking at and my first choice would be the Pro-Pointer. The Pistol Probe has more depth, but the Pro-Pointer works much more efficiently and effectively with its smaller size and modulated audio. The Pistol Probe is big, kind of awkward and not nearly as sturdy as the Pro-Pointer.

Detuning your detector a time or two before you dig your target will help you pinpoint much more accurately.

Thanks metalmolly for your answer, its really appreciated.

What do you men when you say Detuning?

Thanks

Pinpointing with your detector is the best place to start. Detuning was already suggested, and that's the best way to narrow that signal down. Repeat that process until you can tell target size, which might also help you determine whether to dig or not.

I use the Pro Pointer and think it's the best accessory I've ever bought for this hobby. Makes for a quick and accurate recovery without risking a nick or cut to the target. Get one, you'll love it.

Have fun!
