You can replace it with a simple on/off toggle switch. The momentary pull return, center off, and forward on I have seen out there (have to do a search "White's spare parts pinpoint switch").
I would do a simple on/off toggle. I imagine it's just two wires? One wire to center, then other wire to either one side, or just other leg.
Make sure battery is out of unit when working on it.
