Thanks everyone. I am not really sure what it is made of. At first I thought heavily patinated hornstone which my buddy suggested as well. After really looking at it though I kinda tossed out that idea. I am really not sure.

yeah that is sweet. What a saw. No way it could be fort payne chert right?

TN, no I do not believe it is Fort Payne. I am kinda stumped really. I am happy to have found it.

Man ohio that point rocks, if you get some time show us the other side. Thanks... JYD...

Thanks for the replies guys. I was pretty happy when I found it. It would have made a really super in-situ shot. Greg, the material is definitely not carter. I am pretty familiar with that stuff as we find a lot of it in my area. Have you been finding anything lately?

i thought it was dead on for carter cave, orangish hue, waxy texture and I am assuming you hunt the ohio river area which is in the distribution range for carter.but you would know better than I because i dont find it much this far north.where at do you live down there?I used to hunt the ohio river alot, love hunting that area.i used to hunt spots between marrietta and stuebenville.i havent hunted much lately, every time i plan on an all day hunt something comes up and derails my hunt.planning on alot of hunting this weekend.lol.actually hitting some creeks today.again great find chuck.

Greg, yeah we find a lot of Carter Cave down here. I live in downtown Cincinnati and walk a lot of banks near here. Where exactly are you? My Stepfather just purchased 50 acres in Licking Co. I have been wanting to go check it out. Good luck today. I walked a little yesterday and found a nice intrusive mound point made of Boyle chert.

thx chuck i will need some luck to just get to the creek before someone calls me.lol.I live in pickerington a suburb east of columbus im about 20 minutes from licking cty,I have many hunting spots in licking county,I hunt the buckeye lake area alot.you need to go check your stepfathers spot out, incredible area to be looking for artifacts.give me a shout if you come up this way and i will show you around and see if we cant go find some headz.have a good one.
