Pinball? Ball Bearing? What is it?

Backstory. When I moved into my house last year in March, We had to clean a lot of garbage from the previous tenant. No, it was not a drug house, but close. I’d rather not talk about it.

Anyway, we found this recently in the front yard. Perfect sphere, made of metal, about 1 inch to 1 1/16 inches in diameter.

Not sure what it is. My best guess is it’s a pinball or a ball bearing. I thought it was a piece of muzzleloader ammo, but it’s too big, so it’s not.

If you need more details, I’ll get them.

Any ideas?

I have an idea. Check the history where you found this. Was there a gun powder manufacturing site in the area? Back in the old days they used round metal balls to mill the powder. Often times there were explosions that blew up destroying everything in the area. These metal objects were often found in and around these areas. This is a long shot, and just an idea.

Just looked at the history of Boise, Idaho. Turns out there was a military base here in 1863, called Fort Boise.

You may have been right, who knows......

Ooh Ooh, pick me!...... Looks like someone loss their Military Bearing! Sorry I just couldn't resist and had to do that, my fellow veterans on TNet will get it.

Somewhere packed away I have a 35mm film canister with the steel bearing my TI gave me after graduating Basic Training. He said as long as you don't lose your Military Bearing you'll go far. Got it in Feb 1986 and I still have it packed away.
