I may be doing a deer hunt there this fall and was wondereing, if I tag out early, if there is any good detecting in that area. I am not even sure how old of an area it is, just looking for an excuse to throw the detector in the truck with me. I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes, just wondered if there are any old parks or sites there. Thanks and have a great holiday weekend.

Treasure legends--Pike county
Story about the outlaw and murderer John Murrell and his gang stashed
loot in the vicinity of Rockport near the Mississippi River.

In 1922, William Whitten was tilling the field on his farm near New Salem when he
found a gallon bucket containing 2,460 pennies, 16 half dollars and $30 in dimes
and nickels. Believed to be part of the loot buried by bandits from the New Salem
Bank. More is believed buried near this location.

Hope this helps
