I found this old piggy bank today rotting away in a old basement to a house that is being torn down. Besides being dirty it is in really nice condition. But it has no marks on it at all. Its porcelyn (unsure if spelling) I think but could be some other material. The bottom plug is missing but there isnt a mark on it anywhere. Its 10 inches tall. Anyone know anything about it I cant find anything anywhere??

The only thing I can tell you is the the coins were dropped in through the slit in the back of his head :tongue3:

Without markings I think it will nearly be impossible to even guess the age. I have made several google searches and found banks that were made in the 70's, and they were made to look like older banks from the 30's :icon_scratch:

I have not seen one like that but have seen other things some what like it cast in plaster , you could paint them the way you wanted them.

This was my first thought as well.
My mom used to be into these in the early 80s. I never had one like this, but I had a lamp, clock, etc.
Are the 14 and M cast in the plaster or just painted on? If they're just paint, that makes it very likely a figurine made for someones kid.

If it's found not to be too old, I would suggest it might be something that banks gave to customers who would sign up to them with their accounts. It used to be quite common to do that.
