imo If he dug Down & hit Water he was Probably in the wrong spot.
He needed to Move to a higher spot.
Seems to me Who ever Buried it would Have stopped Immediately if they Hit water
 

Interesting. Steamboat park is the main park in Pierre and it was named because it was the steamboat landing in the early days of the town. The amount being chased in the story isnt much. Perhaps he was following a story of a purse dropped over the side of a steamboat. That could explain the use of pumps and digging down through the silt.
 

I believe this is about a sunken steamboat that was carrying a shipment of gold. We are proofing our Dakotas book and cover it.

In time I'll post some of our stuff. The Black Hills book is doing well currently. Then we have both Dakota's done and all of Wyoming. 7 books roughly 2,500 plus pages and of course some are not true as far as I believe.
