I picked up my ring making mandrel and jewelers saw today.? Then stopped by a coin shop and bought a few coins.? Also got to see how a gold testing kit works.? Bought four real nice coin displays, they are drawers and stack and can add them on as I go.? Got them used and about 40% cheaper, look new.? Here are a few coins a detectorist will never find, they are made of ceramic.
This is the obverse of a 1921 ceramic 50 Pfenning coin from Meissen Germany.? Depression money.? Not exactly sure which is obverse or reverse but I think the denomination side is the obverse.?

The real reason I went to the coin shop was to buy a few 2 Deutsch Mark Paul von Hindenburg coins with swastikas to make rings.? The obverse.

Reverse of the coins, they have been converted into buttons.? I?ll desolder the loops and remove the solder.? Got them very cheap and they will make good practice coins, plan to cut out the inside of the coin and keep the swastika attached.? Also bought two real nice coins to make the final ring.? I'm snowed in, 1' of snow in central Europe and can't detect.? HH, Mike

Neat!!!,,, The learning just never stop on this forum...
Also, any tips for someone wanting to get into making some rings, or other jewelry?
I've though about taking some of my silver rings, that don't really mean anything to me, and make something special...
I've read a little on smelting silver, not sure if that would be for me , or not...
Thanks for another history leason learned...
Coins made of a ceramic material,,,that would be awful to brake your money instead of loosing it...

Hi Leon, this will be my first attempt at making a ring coin so no advice here. Probably better to do some internet searches. I thought those ceramic coins were neat, Oh my gosh, I broke my lunch money, LOL! HH, Mike
