Little back story first.

This is a farm that sits on a high bluff about 3/4 of a mile from the Ohio River. You would never know its there from the road below. I found out from my sisters ex husband who knew the farmer and got me permission to hunt there. I hunted it twice, found 14 the first trip and 12 the second and he told me I was finding to many and not to come back. Serious. This was in the late 80's.

So, fast forward to about three weeks ago and in walks the farmer to my place of work and wants to know if I'd like to buy what he had found over the years. I asked his price and he said $400 and I told him they weren't worth that much and offered $150. He said $300 was the lowest and I told him I'd pass. Today I go the local flea market and he's there and has the tray. I asked what he was asking now and he said he had shown it around and everyone agreed with me and he said I could have it for $200 if I still wanted it. Since its local and a place I have already hunted I went ahead a bought them. Now I just have to find my records and get the other pieces out to add to it.

The first picture is how I bought them. The others are how I trayed them.

Nothing spectacular, but a few solid pieces. For size reference the Cache Blade is 3 1/2 inches long. The Flake Blade is 4 inches.

Several nice pieces. You would burn more than 200 in gas to find those wouldn't you. Maybe you can ask permission from new owner too.

Same owner. He doesn't farm it any more except for his big garden. I'm going to check it out after he turns it under.

I couldn’t give away one point for 200 let alone a whole tray but I’m a not for sale guy when it comes to my treasures. Nice pick up

Nice addition to your artifact collection.....

nice to have the location on those points, to me that is worth a lot beyond the price.

It's a nice collection and you knowing the history makes it that much more interesting. I like the 2 toned blade. Thanks for sharing.

He has asked me a few times over the years if I was interested in buying them but never would give me a price. He finally decided to go through with it. I don't sell, but I have given away and traded hundreds of pieces over the past 5 or so years.

I hope I wasn’t misunderstood I’m not saying you weren’t spot on with an assessment I’m just saying it funny to me because I way overvalue even my worst point I don’t know if 2000 would even get me to think about selling one. I’ve seen your collection at least part of it on this site and I think you got the numbers to deal. Makes my little display laughable but like you and your guy they are all personal finds from my family’s land so the value to me is much more than I could ever get on the market

Someone I used to work with once asked me how many arrowheads is enough? I told him I'll never have enough--just like Steve! :laughing7:

Agreed 100%. My wife asked me once, "Don't you have enough artifacts?" I answered with, "Don't you have enough shoes?". Never heard another word about me getting more artifacts. lol
