The front has an engraving of a flower of some kind, please open image to see in more detail. The apparent residual picture could be patternicity.

Would love to see a better shot of the photo inside! If you take more photos, put it on something besides white and use your macro settings if you have one. Looks like a really cool find! It could be a piece of what was called mourning jewelry. Very Nice.
