Found this today at my post rev flat button site.
Was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this. Like a date, and some sort of meaning would be appreciated.
Its about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 tall and appears to be copper or brass.
Looks like it says Philo Mena U _ M
Has a deity or saint and angels on the front, and a cross, an anchor, and what appears to be a lady laying down on the reverse.
Its pretty neat to find a religious thingy with anchors on it.
I live on the Gulf of Mexico. Lots of maritime history and seafood industry in our area.
Thanks

To explain the arrows and anchor symbols associated with Saint Philomena:

St. Philomena was martyred in the 4th century because she refused to marry the Emperor of Rome and vowed to give herself to God. She was bound to a pillar, scoured and brought back to a jail cell to die. But she did not die - the emperor tied an anchor to her neck and threw her in the river. She did not drown - he ordered her to be killed with arrows - she did not die. Due to this multitudes became Christian and the Emperor finally had her beheaded.
