I couldn't wait to go. I was excited to arrive in the Philippines and try out my new Garrett Infinium. I had an entire month to chose and pick the days, I wanted to metal detect. I was curious about finding anything at all. Not knowing if the beaches are difficult to detect from the high mineralized beaches, or not. Anyway, I just went for it and really enjoyed, the detector and I have no experience, using a detector that had a continuous humming sound. I just thought of it as if the detector was talking to me and my job was to listen closely to each target. I did have a little difficult in false signals, while shallow water detecting, but the video explained how to correct it. I simply raised my discrimination level from zero to a higher number, never having to get to 3. The sound was gone and back to finding targets. After, I left the water I return the discrimination level back to Zero. I believe the false signals came from the choppy water. Salt water wavers, slapping the detector vs flat calm water? I recovered many Pesos and even found an American quarter on the beach and shallow water. I found some rings, ear rings and a bracelet. A couple targets I just gave up because they was deeper then I wanted to dig. The Infinium is powerful. Sensitive enough that a target was known to drop through the holes inside my sand scoop. I looked for patterns on the beach at low tide. Where was the bottle caps ending and where was the deeper coins at. I enjoyed my stay and found plenty of cosmetic jewelry - "Just as Fun" to me. It a hobby, not a paycheck. LOL

I did put the Garrett Infinium LS on a custom rod. Next time I'll also replace the DD coil, too ( Mono ).

I returned last May 2015 but this time I brought my new Fisher CZ 21 detector. I hit the beach at low-tide, in morning or later in the evening. It worked fine there. I had a bucket of coins. One coin after another. The fisher CZ 21 is also a very powerful detector. Both detectors are waterproof to 250'. I detected in the Philippines as much as possible. This was summer time there and I don't recommend anybody spending a lot of time on the beach, during the day. You can become a heat casualty. Somebody actually died ( an expat ). I heard it on the news. Early morning or later in the evening is just fine. The last time I was here was the winter. It was perfect weather. You can detect at any time. I got stung by a jelly fish. The big white ones. I believe they are called, man-of-war. I didn't see any large jelly fish in the summer. I was ready. I wore a full wetsuit. It was a thin wetsuit but it pertected me. I had the booties and glove too.. You will need them because I seen thousand of smaller black jelly fish, in the water. I was good to go. The suit pertected me form the sun too.
Enjoy the sport and it's worth the extra money to invest in a hobby you enjoy. Who cares, as long as your enjoy what you love to do....
