I couldn't wait to go. I was excited to arrive in the Philippines and try out my new Garrett Infinium. I had an entire month to chose and pick the days, I wanted to metal detect. I was curious about finding anything at all. Not knowing if the beaches are difficult to detect from the high mineralized beaches, or not. Anyway, I just went for it and really enjoyed, the detector and I have no experience, using a detector that had a continuous humming sound. I just thought of it as if the detector was talking to me and my job was to listen closely to each target. I did have a little difficult in false signals, while shallow water detecting, but the video explained how to correct it. I simply raised my discrimination level from zero to a higher number, never having to get to 3. The sound was gone and back to finding targets. After, I left the water I return the discrimination level back to Zero. I believe the false signals came from the choppy water. Salt water wavers, slapping the detector vs flat calm water? I recovered many Pesos and even found an American quarter on the beach and shallow water. I found some rings, ear rings and a bracelet. A couple targets I just gave up because they was deeper then I wanted to dig. The Infinium is powerful. Sensitive enough that a target was known to drop through the holes inside my sand scoop. I looked for patterns on the beach at low tide. Where was the bottle caps ending and where was the deeper coins at. I enjoyed my stay and found plenty of cosmetic jewelry - "Just as Fun" to me. It a hobby, not a paycheck. LOL
