Thank you Chaggy.

I really needed that, after getting into it on other posts of ungrateful blowhards.

Thanks again,

Tony

Good call, Tony... once again! And you can't beat those pics.

I know what you mean about some of those other threads. There are forums for rants, jokes, etc. Maybe we ought to ask Marc or Jeff to set aside a spot or two for straight Q & A posts, without any of the "creative" and "colorful" contributions that tend to derail serious exchanges of information and ideas.

Unfortunately, some keep following you around and keep on poking the stick instead of a "good job" gesture.

Thank you for the compliment.

I know exactly what you mean. No problem , recognition sometimes is the reward to a good job, I like it when we go direct to the point and fast, thats why I love this forum and I admire some of the members.

Reseach its what we play and RESULTS is the mane of the game.

Best,

Chagy........

Hi muddyKnees

Sorry I did not reply earlier, but did not know about your message till today. Generally am only online at weekends.

Your 5/- is made of silver and for 1952 there was 1,725,500 minted. In 1990 which is the last catalogue that I bought, your condition of coin would have bought in between R10 and R20 which was not a lot of money for a silver coin. They were made for the "Union of South Africa" between 1947 -1960. This is when the British still had an impact on South Africa. After this we seperated from Britain and became the "Republic of South Africa" there coin first came out in 1965 and ended with the 3rd decimal series which started in 1989 till present.

Hope and pray that this info helps you some. If you need to know more please let me know.

God bless
Peter
