I found part of some type of seal today that appears to be made of pewter. I would have loved to find this one in tact, but thats relic hunting for you. If it was whole, it would be the size of a silver dollar. There is some patterns on the front and nothing on the back. Can anybody identify it for me please.

Looks to be decorative. Possibly a button or item for a leather decoration rosette.

Agreed decorative something. Pretty sure its not a button, might be a rosette.

The back view would be helpful in this?

Not sure why you would think it to be a seal, you can discount this theory.

Looks just as old as the amphora thing you found..You are in a great spot, you will turn up some old coins with dates sooner or later.

Looked up amphora, but that appears to be like a vase of sorts?

could be part of a 1700s french snuff box lid.

That would fit the size reference better (silver dollar) than a beer stein.

Thats another excellent what is it from the site. People trying to identify this thing bear in mind that everything we have found there so far points to the very early 1800's. Ricky lets find the rest of that or what it was on! Lol! I have to admit Ricky, this is probably one of the most interesting sites you could have come up with. Its full of surprises everytime we're there. You never know whats gonna show up! Good job once again!!!

I agree you have a great detecting site and more good stuff will see the light :icon_sunny: The posted link to the mirror was no indication that the relic is modern. Only that it's a Whatisit with many possible applications. A decorative pewter medallion.

Maybe part of a cloak clasp? Just guessing and trying to introduce a fresh idea...

I like that idea. Could very well be from a cloak clasp.
