Pewter religious medallion/plate?

I recently found this plate in a dried streambed. It’s made of pewter and seems to have a religious design, perhaps the Mother and Child. Does anyone know the age or what it was attached to? Thanks!

On second thought, it might be some kind of seal or mold to leave an impression. Still not sure about the age.

What a neat find It may be a medallion or escutcheon plate that was screwed to a box or piece of furniture at one time.
