Been editing a new video and one of my finds was a dirt and crust caked round disk a little larger than a US nickel. I originally thought it was a piece of lead. But upon further investigation I noticed that it was actually pewter. Started to clean it last night and it looks interesting. Can anyone positively ID it? Maybe someone recognizes a pattern?

Nice save on the pewter button, unfortunately there's very little detail left on the face to identify.
It may just be my eyes at 5:30 in the AM playing tricks on me... but if I turn my head at an angle and squint, I think I can see a raised #2 in the face. :icon_scratch:

Best of luck in getting an I.D. on your button.
Dave

The #4 photo has some detail that might provide the answer-good luck.
I tries every editing filter/colour feature to bring it out more but no real answer.

I see a 7 in the center.

I think what you have is a 7th Regiment of Foot (Royal Fuzileers) Looking at my copy of "Insignia of Independence" by Mr Troiani and Mr. Kochan, page 49, an Enlisted man's small pattern pewter was found in Savannah and the one they show is 17 mm with a raised 7 and a circular border.

It’s a 1st Maryland Battalion button. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1615083480.136944.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1615083502.878455.webp
